The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Sorokov shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kasamsun defends it nicely. Kasamsun dives in and scores a takedown into Sorokov's guard. #R1# Barbados ducks under a wild hook from Sorokov. Barbados appears to be looking for a big counter. Horrible takedown attempt by Sorokov or perhaps it was just good defense by Barbados, which made it look bad. Sorokov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Barbados tries to avoid it but Sorokov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Barbados to the ground. Barbados escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Sorokov's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Barbados connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sorokov scrambles back to his feet. Sorokov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barbados but Barbados pushes him off and we're back to square one. Aldo Barbados has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuri Sorokov. Sorokov doesn't succeed with the takedown and Barbados counters with a left to the body. Sorokov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barbados avoids it really well and circles away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sorokov with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Barbados to score with a decent uppercut.#T1# Barbados jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
#ROC# Sorokov is rocked! Barbados lands a brutal uppercut that launches Sorokov off his feet! Sorokov tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Aldo Barbados! Aldo Barbados was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.

Sorokov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sitsongrit is trying to control but can't.
Sorokov not landing any meaningful shots this time. Sitsongrit is doing well to control the position and prevent Sorokov from advancing to side control. Sorokov works his way into full mount! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sitsongrit keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

You can see the frustration on Sitsongrit's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Sitsongrit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sorokov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Sorokov connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Sitsongrit to escape the position.

West has had enough of the clinch but Sorokov keeps him there for the moment. Sorokov lands a hook that snaps the head of West backwards. Sorokov is pushing West up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Sorokov works on West's body with a couple of short punches. Sorokov has West pressed against the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. West is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. West tries to score a body lock takedown but Sorokov shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Yuri Sorokov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Claudiano avoids a lazy jab quite easily. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sorokov has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.#CL# Claudiano closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Claudiano struggles to land a body shot inside as Sorokov controls his hands.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Yuri Sorokov. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sorokov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Sorokov pushes Adabisi against the cage but Adabisi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
