Romero ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Romero fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Romero throws out a powerful jab.
Romero drops his hands momentarily and Whelan takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
The crowd cheers as Whelan lands an impressive looking overhand right. Romero doesn't seem phased though.
Whelan swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Romero connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Nice body kick from Romero.
Whelan loads up on a big right hand but Romero slips the punch.
Whelan looking to land some kicks to the body here.

and Romero cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Romero pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Whelan tries to clinch but Romero moves away
and Romero counters with a two punch combo.
Romero uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Whelan.
Whelan throws out a loose jab but Romero uses good head movement to avoid it.
Romero throws a right hand that misses
and Whelan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Romero has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.#CL#
Whelan closes the distance and clinches.
Romero tries to land a knee to the head but Whelan blocks with his arms.

Romero drops down looking for an ankle pick but Whelan pulls his leg out and moves away.

Whelan lunges at Romero with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Romero's hand.

Whelan misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Romero.
Romero throws a head kick that misses.
Romero throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Whelan.
Whelan throws an ugly left hook that misses

Romero lands a brutal head kick. Whelan looks out on his feet and Romero throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
