#R1# A lazy body kick from Ballinger #TD2# and Samaras counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ballinger won't be happy with that. Samaras advances to mount. Samaras controlling the pace for now. Samaras wants to take Ballinger's back but he can't do it this time. Ballinger working to try and regain half guard.
Ballinger is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Samaras seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Ballinger is holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Samaras takes a little breather and maintains the position. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Ballinger is in trouble. #T4# Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

#R1# Penn is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Ballinger takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Ballinger misses with a head kick.
Penn looks like he wants to counter punch here. Penn swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ballinger tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Penn is able to avoid easily. Penn looks like he wants to counter punch here. Ryan Ballinger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Penn stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ballinger. Ballinger tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Penn counters with a nice low kick that buckles Ballinger's knee momentarily. Penn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

A head kick by Ballinger misses and Penn counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ballinger thumps Penn with a low kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

West takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. West takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Ballinger throws a series of punches but West avoids them all with ease. West throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ballinger. Ballinger tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. West throws a head kick that misses letting Ballinger counter with a right hand. West blocks a jab. Ballinger moves to clinch but West breaks away and Ballinger takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. West keeps the fight on the outside. The fighters circle momentarily. West darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ballinger throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Both fighters circling a little - Ballinger finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Ballinger takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. West scores with an uppercut up the middle. West has control of Ballinger and unloads with a rapid fire barage of elbows, sending Ballinger crashing to the mat! Ballinger looks in big trouble - I don't think he's going to beat the count! He hasn't! The referee has reached 10 and this fight is all over! West looks delighted, as well he should.

I was talking to Ballinger's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Ballinger lands with a left to the head. Wooooo!
