Aliev darts in looking for a takedown but Ioannou Ii gets double underhooks and turns Aliev into the cage.

Lukas Ioannou Ii seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sultan Aliev is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

We've been told by Ioannou Ii's head coaches at LOD: Contenders that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Ioannou Ii is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Aliev can do to turn this around?

Welker gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Aliev's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Aliev has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Aliev tries to break the clinch but Welker is controlling the position.
Welker lands a body shot in the clinch.
Welker lands with a left to the head.
Aliev can't break the clinch.

Aliev escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aliev avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A slow jab from Aliev misses its intended target.
Welker connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Aliev momentarily.
Nice shot lands for Aliev.
Aliev drops his hands momentarily and Welker takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Welker throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Welker is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Welker gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Welker gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Welker apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Welker explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Aliev shoots for a double leg takedown but Welker sprawls well. He's pushed Aliev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Aliev takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Aliev shoots for a double leg takedown but Welker sprawls well. He's pushed Aliev's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Aliev will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A relieved looking Whisper Welker thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
