Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Luke Pratchett (ranked 2834 p4p, 140 weight class) and Hanzo Hasashi (ranked 1072 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Luke Pratchett! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Hilo, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Hanzo Hasashi! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. No luck for Pratchett with that takedown attempt. Hasashi rushes Pratchett and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Pratchett gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Pratchett (2) vs (0) Hasashi Pratchett is looking for a kimura but Hasashi is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pratchett to get the leverage. Pratchett looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Pratchett is keen to just control but Hasashi is a slippery customer. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pratchett is working for a submission of some sort.

Hasashi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Pratchett is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Pratchett had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hasashi defends it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hasashi stays in close to Pratchett's body and controls the position. Hasashi wants to pass the guard but Pratchett is keeping the position. Hasashi content to stall in guard here. Pratchett looking for submissions from the bottom here. Pratchett seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. It looks like he's just sitting there. Pratchett won't allow Hasashi to pass to mount. Hasashi stalling away here and it's allowed Pratchett to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hasashi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Pratchett manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Not this time though. Hasashi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Hasashi trying to mount his opponent but Pratchett defends it.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Hasashi prevents Pratchett from improving his position. Pratchett is refusing to be controlled, as Hasashi sits in half guard. Hasashi content to control rather than advance. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! It looks like Hasashi might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that's the end of the fight! Hasashi wins on points by 12 to 4. In his post fight interview, Hanzo Hasashi gave a big smile as he said 'That's what should have happened in the first fight; I should have won the belt; but now i'm gonna go into isolation'. |

Stipe takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. An inside leg kick lands from Stipe. Pratchett scores with a hook. Stipe goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Pratchett! But no joy. Stipe throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Stipe lands with a good body shot. Pratchett has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Stipe. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mini Stipe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Pratchett. Stipe connects with a body shot that sends Pratchett's belly button to the back. Mini Stipe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Good leg kick by Stipe there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Pratchett drops his hands momentarily. Stipe doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Pratchett staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Pratchett doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

After the fight, Luke Pratchett was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. The defeated Lin Shui had this to say: 'No worries. Everyone knows my opponent here has a very bad habit of testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs, so I'm confident this fight will soon be ruled a 'No-Contest.''.

#R1# Pratchett wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Pratchett walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Boom comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Pratchett looks for the body kick but Boom saw that one coming. Pratchett ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. We've been told by Boom's head coaches at The Beast that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Pratchett swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pratchett throws an overhand right that lands on Boom's shoulder, as Boom tries to avoid the shot. Boom takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. The crowd cheers as Pratchett lands an impressive looking overhand right. Boom doesn't seem phased though. Pratchett lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Pratchett moves away from the strike by Boom. A little jabbing left from Pratchett on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pratchett misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Thong Song shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Thong Song has been working on his boxing with his coaches at LOD: Top Team in the buildup to the fight. Thong Song tries to clinch there but Pratchett circles away.

Luke Pratchett decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Brynjar, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
