#R1##TD2# Cross looking to score a takedown here. Nyberg is defending well but Cross drives through and ends up in Nyberg's guard. Cross stops Nyberg from standing up. Cross is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Cross engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Cross has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.#ES# Nyberg manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#BC2# Cross escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nyberg tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Cross counters with a right hand to the body. #T1##TD2# Cross drives through with a takedown into guard. Cross engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. #SU2# Cross decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Nyberg, up you get! #KD# Nice combo by Nyberg! Oh, that's hurt him - Cross falls to the canvas and Nyberg follows him into side control. #ROC# Cross is rocked!#CUT# It looks like Cri Cross has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here.#SU# Nyberg stands up. Cross is still on wobbly legs! Can Nyberg finish him? Nyberg tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cross blocks a head kick by Nyberg.
And Cross tries to counter it with a takedown but Nyberg pushes his down on his head and steps out. Nyberg misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nyberg drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Cross 's head, knocking him out cold! Nyberg is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Matti Nyberg! Matti Nyberg was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.

#R1# Nice defenses there by O'Neil. Cross misses with a jab, cross combination.
#TD2# Cross shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. O'Neil manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cross wants to stand but O'Neil is controlling his posture from full guard. Cross lands a couple of elbows. O'Neil is striking off his back. Cross thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard. Cross lands strikes from half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. O'Neil is refusing to be controlled, as Cross sits in half guard. O'Neil trying to control from the bottom.
#T1# O'Neil is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Cross jumps into side control! O'Neil is trying to improve his position. O'Neil is trying to control Cross 's posture but Cross avoids it. O'Neil is trying to escape the position but Cross is controlling the position. Cross is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.#SUB2# O'Neil is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Cross 's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Cross ! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and O'Neil has tapped! This one is allllll over!
