#R1##TD2# Shewmaker gets caught napping as Book dives in and scores a takedown. Shewmaker manages to retain guard. Shewmaker keeping moving, preventing Book from controlling successfully. Book chips away with some ground and pound. Shewmaker seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Book postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Book is working Shewmaker over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Book working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Book trying to control but Shewmaker is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shewmaker trying to keep a closed guard but Book is proving a slippery customer.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Book can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Shewmaker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Book has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Book slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Shewmaker prevents Book from getting back to his feet. Shewmaker will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Shewmaker works a leg free and moves into half guard. Shewmaker not landing any meaningful shots this time. Book is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Shewmaker trying to control the action but Book is working from the bottom. Shewmaker lands with a light punch inside. #CUT# Tommy Book's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters. #R1# Shinra feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Book's calf. Book gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Shinra, right into the meat.
Shinra misses with a double jab.
Shinra throws a leg kick #TD# and Book counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Shinra! Book lands a few punches from side control. Book working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Book cracks Shinra with an elbow. That is naaassty. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The referee asks Book politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Book prefers to stall for the moment though. Book has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Shinra! A nice elbow there by Book. Book putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!#ROC# Shinra is rocked! Book unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Shinra wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Book celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tommy Book! Tommy Book decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
