And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Bill Brown!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.

Brown shoots and misses

and Nowak counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Nowak wants to control from the top but Brown keeps moving.

Brown looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Nowak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Brown is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

Nowak avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Brown escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nowak gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Nowak slips nicely into half guard.

Nowak wants to work for an arm triangle but Brown is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Brown is refusing to be controlled, as Nowak sits in half guard.
Nowak knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brown on the ground.

Brown wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Brown slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Nowak passes Brown's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Nowak is working for a kimura but Brown is defending it quite comfortably.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Nowak is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Brown slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Nowak got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brown has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nowak has managed to get both his arms back between Brown's legs - danger averted.
Nowak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brown swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brown is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Nowak is aware though and is defending well.

Brown has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Nowak should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Brown has tightened it up now! Nowak should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

A determined Bill Brown didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!

That kick from Johnson tenderised Nowak's leg. Nowak is trying to keep his angry face on.
Johnson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Johnson drops Nowak with a beautiful combination! Nowak stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Johnson is looking for the KO!#CUT#
It looks like Nick Nowak has been cut.
Johnson connects with a body shot that sends Nowak's belly button to the back.
Nowak looks winded!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!#TD#
Johnson feints and as Nowak raises his hands in defense, Johnson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Nowak wants to get back to his feet but Johnson passes into half guard. #REVB#
Johnson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Johnson lands a nice short elbow.
Johnson looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. #T1#
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Johnson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Johnson cracks Nowak with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Nowak bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Johnson and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Thomas Johnson!
