Coming up we have a welterweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Oliver Hedman Karlsson and Andre Karel. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the welterweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Oliver Hedman Karlsson! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Andre Karel! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Karel looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Hedman Karlsson has managed to clinch.
Karel is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hedman Karlsson is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Karel to the mat. Karel regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Karel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Karel working a defensive guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Karel is controlling Hedman Karlsson's posture. Hedman Karlsson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Karel's guard. Hedman Karlsson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Karel's guard. Karel keeping moving, preventing Hedman Karlsson from controlling successfully. Karel told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Hedman Karlsson is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Karel is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's five minutes gone in the round. Hedman Karlsson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hedman Karlsson tries to advance to mount but Karel denies him. Hedman Karlsson is looking to take a break and control but Karel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Karel tries to buck Hedman Karlsson off but Hedman Karlsson is having none of it.

Karel keeps control of the position for the meantime. Karel is not content to let Hedman Karlsson control the position.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Hedman Karlsson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Karel knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Hedman Karlsson trying to control from half guard but Karel is working away. Karel is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Hedman Karlsson tries to pass to full mount but Karel defends it. Hedman Karlsson is trying to control. Karel wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Hedman Karlsson is stalling here. Karel is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hedman Karlsson seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Karel has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Hedman Karlsson is working hard here to advance position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hedman Karlsson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Karel is working away from the top position though.
And that's the end of the fight! Hedman Karlsson takes the fight on points by 16 to 6. Oliver Hedman Karlsson seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website. |
