#R1##TD2# Winston changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Whitaker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Whitaker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Winston wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Whitaker on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Whitaker on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Winston lands a few punches from side control. Whitaker is trying to control Winston's posture but Winston avoids it. Winston lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. #SUB2# Winston tries for a kimura but Whitaker is defending well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Winston landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Winston has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.#SUB2# Winston is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Whitaker is trying to escape and Winston transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Whitaker is forced to tap! Nice work there by Winston! Very nice indeed!

Pera fails to land the takedown. Whitaker looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pera throws a hook but Whitaker avoids it easily. Whitaker tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Pera manages to circle out of the way. Pekka Pera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pera with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

I was talking to Whitaker's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Pera digs a right hand underneath Whitaker's ribcage. Whitaker let out a lung full of air as it connected. Pera tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Whitaker's elbow. Pera softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Whitaker tries to catch it but that hurt him. Some bone on bone action there as Whitaker checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Whitaker moves away from the strike by Bryant. Bryant tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
