#R1# King misses with an uppercut. McCarthy appears to be looking for a big counter. McCarthy misses the jab. King lands with a shot to the body. McCarthy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've been hearing reports that McCarthy has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. McCarthy ducks right into an uppercut from King. #CUT2# It looks like Ryan McCarthy has been cut. McCarthy tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Despite the aggression on King's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. King throws a right and a left that McCarthy avoids nicely. A punch lands to the side of McCarthy 's head but he takes it in his stride. King is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.#T1# McCarthy throws a combination that misses and King counters with a straight right hand. King throws a big shot that misses. It looked like McCarthy was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. McCarthy throws a chopping leg kick but King manages to avoid taking any serious damage. King appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick. McCarthy slips a jab from King. McCarthy tried to counter with a leg kick but King avoided it. King throws a jab but it's blocked by McCarthy. McCarthy feinted with a counter takedown.#CL# McCarthy moves into the clinch. King creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. #T2# King softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. King tries to land knees in the clinch but McCarthy avoids the damage to the body. King trying to stall but McCarthy improves his position.

The fighters land in half guard but King regains guard immediately. #SUB# McCarthy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. McCarthy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. King swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McCarthy is stalling in the full guard. #T4# King wants to get back to his feet but McCarthy is in a dominant position and won't allow it. McCarthy controls the pace of the fight for a moment. King is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst McCarthy is controlling him. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! McCarthy throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as King works some decent striking defense from the bottom. #REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts King, as that shot connected.

King is trying to escape and get back to his feet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. After a battle for position, McCarthy asserts his dominance and retains side control.#T2# The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. McCarthy content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. King pushes McCarthy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, McCarthy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.#SUB# McCarthy has an Americana. King didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! McCarthy is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if McCarthy hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

#R1# Midget looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? King is fending him off so far but Midget persists. Nope, King circles away and we're back to standing. Jab from King. King rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
#TD2# and Midget counters with a nice double leg into half guard. #SUB2# Midget seems to be looking for submissions.
#SUB2# Midget is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. King doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Midget. #SUB2# Midget is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and King defends it well. #T1# Midget stops King from getting back to his feet.

#R1# King closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Adam Baranowski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Baranowski is trying hard to land a takedown here. King sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. #TD# Baranowski scores with a takedown into King's guard. Baranowski pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. King is keeping the position for now. Baranowski throwing strikes from guard but King blocks nicely. Baranowski passes King's right leg, so he's now in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. King tries to kick Baranowski off but Baranowski keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Baranowski content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Baranowski thows a huge punch but King dodges it nicely.

and King cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. King tries to bum rush Suzuki with a series of wild strikes but Suzuki uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Suzuki misses the jab. King throws a big counter combination but Suzuki scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. King misses the jab. Suzuki shoots and misses and King counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! King lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Suzuki circles away quickly and effectively. Suzuki throws a combination but it was largely blocked by King. A little feinted left hand from King on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.#T1# King lands a lovely overhand right. Suzuki throws a right hand that misses
and King counters with an inside leg kick. Suzuki throws a body shot but no joy. Suzuki misses with an uppercut. King is looking to counter with head kicks. Suzuki misses the body punch and King counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Suzuki swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. It looks like King has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him. Saban Suzuki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. King is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Wu shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as King sprawls well. King wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wu gets slowly back to his feet. As Wu backs off King throws a huge counter combo but Wu manages to avoid it all. King bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.#CUT2# It looks like Chang Wu has been cut. Wu doesn't succeed with the takedown and King counters with a nice uppercut. King stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and King wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chang Wu. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wu fails with the takedown and King counters with a nice uppercut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wu throws a lazy head kick and King counters with a nice uppercut. Wu misses with a takedown attempt and King cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Wu doesn't succeed with the takedown and King counters with a stiff right hand. #R1# Suzuki stuns King with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Suzuki misses with a body shot
and King counters with a nice uppercut. Suzuki fails to land with a series of punches.
Suzuki throws a low kick but it's checked well by King. King avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Suzuki on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Suzuki misses with a left hand letting King counter with a right hand. King lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

As Akenzua backs away, King returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Akenzua is looking to clinch. It looked like King wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. A good leg kick by King. Akenzua throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Akenzua throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and King counters with an inside leg kick. King seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Akenzua throws a leg kick and King counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Akenzua tries to clinch but fails miserably and King counters with a series of strikes. Akenzua will be more careful next time no doubt. Akenzua misses with the combination.

Sanchez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and King counters with a crisp right that sends Sanchez to the canvas! King follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Brooklyn King! Brooklyn King was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
