#R1# Vermeer ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Pod avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Pod steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Vermeer. Vermeer looks to score with a jab to the body but Pod is just out of range. Vermeer swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Vermeer thows a left - swing and a miss! Vermeer lands a slapping body shot.
Vermeer avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pod jabbing away but nothing is landing. Pod on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Vermeer throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pod sees it coming and avoids it easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pod moves in looking to clinch but Vermeer pushes him off. An attempted straight right counter from Vermeer misses the target. Vermeer swats away the attempt to clinch by Pod. Pod uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Vermeer.

Pod tries to clinch but Vermeer is having none of it. #T2# Pod takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
#KD# Vermeer drops Pod with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Pod looks back up at him and smiles so Vermeer waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
#ROC# Pod is rocked! Vermeer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pod is still on wobbly legs! Can Vermeer finish him? Vermeer drops Pod with a straight right hand, right on the button! Vermeer follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alexander Vermeer! Alexander Vermeer decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

Pod looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Faflatas creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Pod wants to get back to striking at distance but Faflatas won't allow it.

Faflatas tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Faflatas working Pod over with knees to the body. Faflatas scores with a shot to the side of Pod's head. Pod prevents the takedown attempt.
Pod tries a body shot but Faflatas blocks it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Faflatas has Pod pressed against the cage, preventing Pod from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
