Kropelis shoots in for a takedown but Avery shows good takedown defense. Avery scores with a jab to the head.
Avery throws a poor cross that misses
#TD# so Kropelis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Kropelis wants to control from the top but Avery keeps moving. Avery really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kropelis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kropelis looking to pass the guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kropelis throws a big elbow that misses. #T1# Kropelis engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Avery can do anything to dispel that myth. Kropelis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Avery swivels though and keeps the full guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Avery darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Avery has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Avery tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kropelis was well out of range. Poor timing from Avery. Kropelis is looking for a counter combo. Kropelis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Avery throws an overhand right that lands on Kropelis's shoulder, as Kropelis tries to avoid the shot. Kropelis feinted there with a counter leg kick. Kropelis slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Kropelis passes into half guard. Kropelis controlling the action here.#SUB# Avery is trying to control Kropelis's posture. Kropelis takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for Avery! Kropelis is rotating here... this could be the end... Avery is out! Kropelis has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!

#R1# Avery jabbing away but nothing is landing. Bates drops down looking for a counter takedown but Avery sprawls and moves away. Avery looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Avery looks to land a right hand but Bates moved out of range. Avery throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bates sees it coming and avoids it easily. Bates attempts a counter takedown but Avery avoids it well and moves away. Bates seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Bates really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Avery misses with an uppercut. Avery misses with a body shot.
Bates half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. A swing and a miss from Avery. Avery throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bates. Bates avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Bates shoots in for a takedown but Avery shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Avery throws a series of punches but Bates moves out of range. Avery loads up on a big right hand but Bates slips the punch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. That was a close round but I would say that Ash Bates will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. Bates tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Avery defends well and Bates ends up having to push Avery into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Marquez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A cross from Avery lands. The fighters circle momentarily. Avery darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Avery is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Marquez. A looping hook to the body misses from Marquez. Avery does a little dance to reset his feet. Avery thows a left - swing and a miss! Marquez throwing a counter right hand but Avery manages to avoid it. Avery misses with a hook. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Marquez slips under a jab from Avery. Marquez attempts a counter takedown but Avery avoids it well and moves away. Avery throws a body shot but no joy. Avery throws a body punch but Marquez moves out of range. Marquez swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Marquez misses with a few strikes there.

He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Marquez throws a jab when Avery was well out of range. Avery throws a looping overhand right but Marquez ducks down to avoid it. Marquez feinted with a counter takedown. Avery bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Marquez's head. Avery misses with a looping right. Avery connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Avery throws a shot from downtown. Marquez moves away and avoids it. #ROC2# Marquez is rocked! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Avery swings widly with a right hand
and Marquez counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Oh Marquez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Avery misses with a wild body shot. A little feinted left hand from Marquez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Marquez throws a lazy right hand but Avery sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Marquez seems to have got his legs back now. Marquez moves out of range as Avery strikes.#T2# Marquez with a nice cross. Marquez ducks right into an uppercut from Avery. and Avery counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Marquez! He's just covering up as Avery starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
