Palhares has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Palhares throws the left hand but Conan avoids the punch easily. Despite the aggression on Conan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Palhares misses the jab. Conan throws a shot from downtown. Palhares moves away and avoids it. Palhares ducks under a wild hook from Conan. Conan looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. A decent looking cross lands there for Conan.#TD2# Conan closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Palhares's guard.#SUB# Palhares is looking for a triangle but Conan pushes his legs off easily.

He has the arm isolated but Conan is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Sloppy strikes there by Palhares. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Conan is not content to let Palhares control the position. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. #R1# De Crote lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Conan at a distance.
Conan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from De Crote. De Crote takes a swing at Conan's ribcage but misses. Conan feints a counter leg kick. Conan takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. De Crote scores with a nice right hand.
De Crote scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Conan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Conan! But no joy. De Crote lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Duffy misses with the head strike.

Duffy using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Conan has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Duffy swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Duffy connects with a nasty looking knee right to Conan's face.
#BC2# Duffy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Duffy checks a low kick from Conan. Duffy swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Conan tries to clinch there but Duffy circles away.
Duffy is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Duffy lands a jab to the head.

Oh Conan is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Duffy misses with some punches.

#R1# Conan misses the shot to the body. Hiway walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Conan checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Conan has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.#CL# Hiway clinches up with Conan and pushes him back against the cage. Hiway stops a takedown attempt from Conan.
Conan scores with an uppercut up the middle. Conan goes for a takedown attempt but Hiway pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hiway looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. A left lands for Conan.#CL# Hiway forces Conan back against the cage and clinches. Hiway tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Hiway is pressed up against the cage. Conan has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hiway down to the mat. Hiway avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Gunny Hiway has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Walter Conan. A jab from Hiway does it's job there. Hiway throws a nice inside leg kick. Conan scores with a nice head shot. A swing and a miss from Conan. This has been an exciting period of action!#CL# Hiway clinches up with Conan and pushes him back against the cage. Hiway tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Hiway throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Conan works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Conan has control of Hiway's left arm, preventing Hiway from doing any damage. Hiway loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Conan working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Hiway. Conan seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Hiway postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Conan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hiway manages to get himself to full guard.
