Thompson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. It looked like Vovchanchyn was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Vovchanchyn tries a head kick but it misses.
Vovchanchyn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Vovchanchyn is looking for a counter combo. Some bone on bone action there as Thompson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Thompson darts in looking for a takedown but Vovchanchyn gets double underhooks and turns Thompson into the cage. A cross from Vovchanchyn lands.#CUT# It looks like Carl Thompson has been cut. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thompson dives in for a single leg takedown but Vovchanchyn sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Remy Vovchanchyn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carl Thompson. A big left from Vovchanchyn misses. Thompson misses with a takedown attempt - Vovchanchyn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Vovchanchyn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Thompson darts in trying to clinch and Vovchanchyn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Vovchanchyn lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. #T2# Thompson shoots for a double leg takedown but Vovchanchyn sprawls well. He's pushed Thompson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Thompson moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Vovchanchyn is looking for a counter combo. Thompson's coach down at The Foundry was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Thompson's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Thompson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Vovchanchyn avoids a punch combination nicely.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Thompson circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Vovchanchyn. Carl Thompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thompson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Grenier paws at him with a jab and circles away. No luck for Thompson with that takedown attempt. Grenier steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Thompson. That one must have hurt. Thompson with a nice looking leg kick. Thompson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Grenier haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
