Watanabe is trying to defend but Impallomeni finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.#SUB# Impallomeni wants to work for an arm triangle but Watanabe is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Impallomeni is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Watanabe regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Impallomeni. Watanabe trying to keep a closed guard but Impallomeni is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Impallomeni throws a big right hand that misses. Impallomeni in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Watanabe slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Thackeray can't do much from the bottom here. Thackeray is being controlled here. Watanabe is putting a hurting on Thackeray here, landing some big shots from side control. Tadashi Watanabe decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

#R1# Watanabe stuffs the takedown attempt from Rekis. Rekis gets slowly back to his feet. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Watanabe! But no joy. Rekis uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Watanabe has time to react. Rekis looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.#TD# Rekis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Watanabe is trying to keep Rekis in close.

Styrjoeld fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Watanabe looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Donk. Styrjoeld catches Watanabe right on the button with a cross. Watanabe takes one on the chin but seems OK.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Styrjoeld will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Slice looks to score with a jab to the body but Watanabe is just out of range.#CL2# Slice clinches up with Watanabe and pushes him back against the cage. Watanabe is trying to maintain a safe position but Slice gets an underhook and turns Watanabe into the cage. Watanabe stalling in the clinch but Slice improves position. I was talking to Watanabe's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Watanabe is trying to force a seperation but Slice has the dominant position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slice is stalling here.
