Muller has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Hughes looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Muller is fending him off so far but Hughes persists. Hughes throws a hook to the side of Muller's head but Muller sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Hughes shoots in looking for a takedown. Muller tries to sprawl out of it but Hughes keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Muller manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Muller scores with a nice head shot. BOOM! Muller lands a beautiful left hook that drops Hughes. Hughes tries to recover but Muller is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Hughes lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Reilly displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hughes. A slow jab from Hughes misses its intended target. Reilly scores with a nice head shot. Hughes throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Reilly stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Reilly lands an overhand right. Hughes tries to close the distance and clinch but Reilly swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Reilly appears to be looking for a counter takedown.#CL2# Hughes closes the distance and pushes Reilly back into the cage.#BC# Reilly breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. #R1# Phol throws a sloppy head kick and Hughes moves out of range easily. We've been told by Phol's head coaches at Elite Strikers that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Phol scoring well with a low kick there.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Phol. Hughes shrugs it off though. Hughes slips under a jab. Horrible takedown attempt by Hughes or perhaps it was just good defense by Phol, which made it look bad. Hughes shoots in for a takedown but Phol shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Phol is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Hughes throws a body punch but Phol moves out of range. Phol feints a jab promting Hughes to slip. Phol then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hughes slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Phol getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Hughes slips a jab and a cross from Phol.

A low kick from Hughes lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Phol has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Phol and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Hughes misses with a looping right. Phol connects with the punch. Phol stuffs the takedown attempt from Hughes. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Simona has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. #R1# Horrible takedown attempt by Hughes or perhaps it was just good defense by Jackson, which made it look bad. A punch lands to the side of Jackson 's head but he takes it in his stride. Hughes fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jackson scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Hughes takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Jackson displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hughes throws out the jab. Hughes misses with an uppercut. Jackson appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.#TD2# Hughes gets the takedown into side control. Jackson is looking to get back to his feet here but Hughes is keeping cool and he's managed to take Jackson's back. This has been an exciting period of action! Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Hughes.
