The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boyle trying to control the position here. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Phoenix's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Phoenix advances to half guard. Phoenix scoring with strikes to the body and head. Boyle blocking the ground and pound attempt from Phoenix. Phoenix takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.#ROC2# Boyle is rocked! Phoenix is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Boyle is hurt! He's hurt bad - Phoenix fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Boyle from any more punishment! Congratulations to Phoenix! Great finish!

#R1##TD2# Monroe gets caught napping as Phoenix dives in and scores a takedown. Monroe manages to retain guard. Phoenix pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Monroe is keeping the position for now. Phoenix stops Monroe from standing up. Phoenix is stalling in the full guard. Phoenix forces his way into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phoenix perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. #T1# Phoenix frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Phoenix connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Monroe tries to reverse the position but Phoenix maintains control. Phoenix content just to control the position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Phoenix scoring with strikes but Monroe is staying in there. Monroe tries to get back to half guard but can't. Phoenix content just to control the position here. #T2# Monroe tries to buck Phoenix off but he can't manage it. Phoenix is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Monroe quickly recovers to half guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Monroe being controlled for a moment. Monroe gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Phoenix looking to control and managing it successfully. #T3# Monroe bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Phoenix managing to control the position. Phoenix manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Monroe manages to get himself to full guard.
#REVB# Monroe could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Phoenix seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Phoenix's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.#T4# Monroe not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

He's got his arms around Phoenix's waist but Phoenix gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Monroe off to one side. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Monroe can't keep his opponent in guard - Phoenix advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Phoenix misses with a head shot. Monroe uses the momentum to regain guard. Pierre Phoenix has got the better of the ground game so far. Phoenix sitting in guard, not really doing much. #T4# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Phoenix stops Monroe from standing up. Phoenix postures up in Monroe's guard and throws a big left but Monroe blocks it. Phoenix works over Monroe with some ground and pound from guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Phoenix slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Reid Monroe has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Pierre Phoenix is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Phoenix works a leg free and moves into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Pierre Phoenix comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Phoenix has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. #R1##TD2# Excellent takedown into side control there by Phoenix. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Vaughn struggling a bit here. You can see the frustration on Vaughn's face as Phoenix controls the position. You can see the frustration on Vaughn's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Phoenix is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Vaughn will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vaughn is trying to get back to half guard. Phoenix is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Vaughn's shoulder. That is not cool. #T1# Vaughn tries to buck Phoenix off but Phoenix is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vaughn is letting Phoenix control him for a moment. Vaughn stops Phoenix from passing to mount. Vaughn tries to bench press Phoenix off him but Phoenix keeps the position. Phoenix controlling the position from side mount. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Phoenix lands a few punches from side control.
