We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Bassi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Mello feints and as Novo raises his hands in defense, Mello changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mello is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Mello throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Novo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Mello stands up over Novo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mello is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Mello has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mello throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Green stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Nice straight punches there by Mello. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Mello.
Green tries to clinch but Mello moves out of range.

Mello connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Green! He's out on his feet! Mello rushes in and drops Green with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
