The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cruz wants to stand but HumpBees is controlling the position.
HumpBees really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cruz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
HumpBees trying to control but Cruz is working from the bottom.
Cruz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emil Cruz. That's going to take a lot out of him.
HumpBees is pressed up against the cage. Cruz has hold of a leg and is looking to drag HumpBees down to the mat. HumpBees avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. #CL2#

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cruz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

HumpBees is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. HumpBees engages and cracks Cruz with a massive lead left hook - Cruz tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! HumpBees is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Eye HumpBees!
Emil Cruz was interviewed post fight and said 'This time my opponent was better. It's sad, but it happens. Though i'll come back in the next fight!'.

Compton might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Compton has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cruz uses from the top position.

A very excited looking Emil Cruz rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
