#R1##TD2# Racine throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Joyner was covering up waiting for the punch and Racine finishes the takedown easily into guard. #ES# Joyner has his feet on Racine's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Joyner misses with an attempted mid kick.
Joyner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Racine tries to avoid it but Joyner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Racine to the ground. Racine escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. #TD2# Racine is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Joyner's half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Joyner is looking to escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Racine missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Racine is looking to take a break and control but Joyner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Joyner wants to control but Racine is keeping busy.

#T1# Joyner tries to roll over but Racine keeps him under control. Racine works his foot free and advances to mount. Racine really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Joyner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Racine has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Joyner's face.

Racine wants to control from the top but Joyner keeps moving. Racine presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Joyner is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Racine is defending well. Racine pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Joyner tumbling to the mat - Racine dives into Joyner's guard. Joyner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. That was a close round but I would say that Mathew Joyner will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. #R2##TD2# Racine looking to score a takedown here.
