Shemus shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Heras as he jumps to the side.
Heras throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. #TD2#
Heras tries to sprawl but Shemus drives through with a takedown into half guard.#ES#
Heras makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Shemus looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Heras will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Shemus fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Heras avoids it really well and circles away.
Shemus is trying hard to land a takedown here. Heras sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Heras lands a left and a right that send Shemus crashing to the mat, dazed. Heras thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Heras is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Heras shuts the power down on Shemus. Lights out, game over! Heras is your winner.

Joshua Heras was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
John Shemus spoke after the fight, saying 'gotta do better'.

Shemus defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Johnson.
Shemus circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shemus misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Shemus takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Johnson darts in looking for a takedown but Shemus gets double underhooks and turns Johnson into the cage.
Johnson fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Shemus is trying to trip Johnson. He has hold of a leg but Johnson is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Shemus persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Daniel Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Shemus, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Shemus against the cage but Shemus circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Johnson shoots in looking for a takedown but Shemus manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Johnson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Shemus steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Johnson.

Horrible takedown attempt by Shemus or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson, which made it look bad.

Johnson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shemus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Johnson looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Shemus! Submission of the night perhaps?

John Shemus decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

Shemus shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rodgers's guard.
Shemus has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Rodgers is proving hard to escape from.
Shemus is working Rodgers over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Shemus wants to control from the top but Rodgers keeps moving.
Shemus is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rodgers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Shemus postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Rodgers covers up, he's hurt! Shemus keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Shemus and the ref steps in to end the fight! Shemus can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
