Ansonov shoots and misses #CL# and Whitney holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Ansonov is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Whitney is defending well. Ansonov has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Whitney after a bit of a struggle. Will Whitney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Elia Ansonov. Whitney putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Ansonov in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.#TD# Whitney pulls Ansonov into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Whitney pulls Ansonov in close to his closed guard and prevents Ansonov from doing any damage or advancing position. Ansonov trying to control but Whitney is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. #ES# Whitney has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Ansonov is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Whitney obliges.#TD# Whitney gets control of Ansonov's arms and successfully pulls guard. Whitney will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.#SUB# Whitney throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ansonov must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.#T2# Whitney keeping moving, preventing Ansonov from controlling successfully. Ansonov being controlled here momentarily. Ansonov trying to control the position from guard on top but Whitney is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This has been an exciting period of action! Whitney controlling Ansonov's posture. #T3##ES# Whitney kicks Ansonov off and gets to his feet. Whitney really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ansonov tries to clinch up. Whitney throwing a counter right hand but Ansonov manages to avoid it. A head kick misses from Ansonov. Ansonov shoots in but Whitney avoids the takedown attempt easily. Ansonov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.#T4# Ansonov with a poor takedown #CL# and Whitney moves into the clinch. Nice body punch from Whitney - that landed with a thud.
A short uppercut from Whitney. Whitney tries to score a body lock takedown but Ansonov shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Whitney throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Ansonovs head. #TD# Whitney pulls guard. Ansonov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Whitney is keeping the position for now. Whitney managing to control the position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.#ES# Whitney manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Will Whitney dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! #R2# Ansonov moves in looking to clinch but Whitney pushes him off. Whitney tries to counter by clinching up but Ansonov breaks away and moves out of range. Ansonov wants to clinch up but Whitney keeps it at a distance. Ansonov shoots in and drives through. Whitney sprawls well. Whitney blocks a head kick by Ansonov.
Whitney was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.#CL# The fight moves into the clinch position. Whitney lands a knee to the body.
#TD# Whitney pulls Ansonov into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ansonov wants to control from the top but Whitney keeps moving. Whitney looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Whitney will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.#T1# Whitney is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. #REVR# Ansonov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Ansonov is trying to stand up here but Whitney is controlling him well. Whitney lands strikes from half guard. Ansonov trying to control here.
#SUB# Whitney is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Ansonov is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
