Andropov throws a right hand that Alvarez ducks under and follows up with a left that Alvarez also avoids with ease. As Andropov backs off Alvarez throws a huge counter combo but Andropov manages to avoid it all. Andropov thuds a left hand into Alvarez's body. Andropov scores with a three punch combo!
Andropov lunges at Alvarez with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Alvarez's hand. Andropov looks to land a combination but Alvarez avoids it well. Alvarez blocks a jab. Nice takedown defense from Andropov. No joy for Alvarez on that attempt. Andropov is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Alvarez. Andropov tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alvarez trying to control but he's not successful this time. #T4# Alvarez controlling his opponent. It looks like Alvarez might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... That's going to take a lot out of Darwingh Alvarez. Alvarez takes a body punch but keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alvarez shoots in for a takedown but Andropov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Alvarez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Alvarez shoots for a double leg takedown but Andropov sprawls well. He's pushed Alvarez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Darwingh Alvarez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Alvarez throws a leg kick that misses. Alvarez is breathing heavily. Nice defenses there by Alvarez. Alvarez shoots in for a takedown but Andropov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Alvarez slips a straight right by Andropov. Andropov lands a really nice looking cross but Alvarez seems unphased.
