Mcknight maintains the clinch. #TD2# Smith turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!#ES# Mcknight throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Mcknight really is a fat lump. A nice inside leg kick there by Smith. That's going to slow Mcknight down. #TD2# Smith drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mcknight trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Smith trying to control but Mcknight is working from the bottom. Smith advances position into side control! Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mcknight keeps working. You can see the frustration on Mcknight's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.#T1# Smith lands a few punches from side control. Mcknight regains half guard there - taking advantage of Smith's attempt to lay and pray for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mcknight won't allow Smith to pass to mount. Smith is stalling here. Mcknight is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Smith seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Mcknight has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. #SUB# Mcknight is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Mcknight working the head with strikes. #T2##SUB# Mcknight tries for a kimura but Smith is defending well. Smith is looking to regain half guard here but Mcknight keeps moving and retains side control. #SUB# Mcknight wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well. Mcknight working away.#T3# Smith trying his best to control but Mcknight has mounted him.#SUB# Mcknight is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Smith has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Mcknight cracks Smith with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Smith tries to reverse the position but Mcknight maintains control. Smith looks winded! Mcknight controlling the position easily from mount. Smith tries to get back to half guard but can't. #T4# Mcknight lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Mcknight lands a heavy elbow. Mcknight lands a big elbow. #SUB# Mcknight working for a guillotine from mount but Smith is in no mood to give up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A nice elbow there by Mcknight. The crowd are loving this. Great action here.#SUB# Mcknight working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Casey Mcknight dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. #R2##TD# Mcknight fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Smith to the ground. Mcknight is now in Smith's guard. Smith is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Mcknight dives into side control.
#REVB# Smith is letting Mcknight control him for a moment. Casey Mcknight overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. A control attempt from Smith but he's now mounted! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB# Mcknight quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Mcknight but it's paid off an Smith is forced to tap! Nice work by Mcknight.
