As King tries to get set, Waters tries to push him back and clinch up but King manages to avoid the attempt. Waters has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.#CL2# King rushes Waters and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.#BC2# King manages to break the clinch.
#CL2# King clinches up with Waters and pushes him back against the cage.#TD2# King jumps into guard, dragging Waters to the mat.
Waters loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. King looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Waters has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. King looking for a sweep. Mike Waters overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Waters postures up in King's guard and throws a big left but King blocks it. King seems keen to control Waters's posture. King is breathing heavily. King wants to hit a switch here but Waters passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for King there! King is in all sorts of trouble here.

King throws a leg kick that misses. King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Waters will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Waters displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from King. Waters attempts a counter takedown but King avoids it well and moves away. Waters avoids the head kick by King.

#CL2# Mack closes the distance and clinches.#BC2# Mack breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. #CL2# Mack fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Waters, pushing him back against the cage. Mack lands a left hand that snaps the head of Waters backwards. Mack lands an elbow inside that Waters shrugs off. Mack dips a shoulder and cracks Waters with a mighty uppercut! Waters falls back against the cage and Mack unloads with a barrage of strikes! Waters is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Mack screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rodney Mack! After the fight, Rodney Mack was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.

Mike Waters has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Josh Williams is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
