Cruz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Werdum circles away. Cruz dives in for a single leg takedown but Werdum sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. A little jabbing left from Werdum on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Cruz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Werdum. Cruz tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Werdum manages to circle out of the way. Cruz dives in for a single leg takedown but Werdum sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Werdum has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darko Cruz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Werdum jabs Cruz right on the nose. Cruz blinks but takes it well.#CUT2# It looks like Darko Cruz has been cut. Cruz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.#TD# Cruz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Nice sprawl there from Werdum as Cruz shoots in. Cruz is breathing heavily. Werdum tries a head kick but it misses.
Cruz appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.#KD2# Oooooh!!! Werdum has knocked Cruz down with a huge combo! Werdum steps away and waves a wobbly Cruz back to his feet! This one might not go much longer! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Werdum jabs Cruz to the body, keeping him at a distance. Cruz walks straight into a right hand from Werdum - that's dropped him! Werdum jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Cruz from any more punishment! Cruz complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Werdum tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Werdum struggles to land a body shot inside as Suarez controls his hands.

Suarez's coach down at Woodhouse's was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Suarez's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. #R2# Suarez tries to bum rush Werdum with a series of wild strikes but Werdum uses good footwork to avoid the assault. The fighters circling - Werdum throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Suarez feints a jab promting Werdum to slip. Suarez then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Werdum slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Suarez's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Suarez duly obliges. #ROC2# Werdum is rocked! Werdum is aggressively charging in as Suarez backs up avoiding any damage. Suarez tosses out a jab and Werdum runs right into it face first! Werdum is out cold! Suarez dropped down on all fours and is barking in Werdum's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!
