Caprio lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Horton hang on? Caprio controlling his opponent. It looks like Caprio might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horton in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. #ROC2# Horton is rocked! Horton wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Oh Horton is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Caprio is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

Royle trying to control but Horton is working from the bottom. Royle tries to free his leg and advance position but Horton is retaining full guard. Horton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. #REVR# Royle is trying to maintain the position but Horton is very close to passing his half guard.#SUB# Horton is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Royle can do anything to dispel that myth. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. It's preventing any offense from Royle, at least for the moment.#T2# A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Horton's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Well Horton has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... #R1##TD2# Alves bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Horton is letting Alves control him for a moment. Alves connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Horton some visible discomfort.
#ROC2# Horton is rocked!#SUB2# Alves has hold of Horton's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Horton tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Alves cranks the arm and Horton screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Horton, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Carlos Alves! Carlos Alves spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
