#TD2# Vasquez drives through with a takedown into Hendrix's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.#ES# Hendrix has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Vasquez off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Vasquez blocks a head kick by Hendrix.
Vasquez throws a right and a left that Hendrix avoids nicely. #TD2# Vasquez closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here.#SUB# Hendrix looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Vasquez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hendrix. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Vasquez seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Hendrix tries to roll over but Vasquez keeps him under control. Vasquez trying to control from half guard but Hendrix is working away. Vasquez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Vasquez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hendrix does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Hendrix wants to improve his position but Vasquez is controlling well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Vasquez wants to get up but he can't break Hendrix's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Hendrix will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hendrix bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Vasquez's guard. #REVR# Hendrix preventing the sweep. Vasquez looks winded! Vasquez is trying to hold Hendrix in close to prevent damage but Hendrix has managed to pass into half guard.
Hendrix thows a huge punch but Vasquez dodges it nicely.

Oh, Vasquez has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work! Vasquez taking a breather here. Hendrix tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Vasquez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Hendrix is holding Vasquez down, trying to stall. Vasquez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hendrix holds on and takes a little breather. #SUB# Hendrix has his foot on Vasquez's thigh. Vasquez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hendrix manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.#TD2# Hendrix gets caught flat footed, as Vasquez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Vasquez trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Vasquez would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. #T3##SUB# Hendrix working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Vasquez doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Vasquez has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Hendrix works to full guard. Chuck Vasquez showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Vasquez is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. Hendrix tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Vasquez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. This has been an exciting period of action!#SUB# Hendrix is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Vasquez doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hendrix. #T1##SUB# Hendrix is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vasquez is just riding it out for now. Hendrix eventually gives up the hold. Vasquez wants to control but Hendrix is keeping busy and won't allow it. #T2# A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Vasquez is trying to stand back up but Hendrix is controlling him
Vasquez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Vasquez. Vasquez is looking to stand up but Hendrix isn't so interested in that idea. Hendrix lands a couple of elbows. Hendrix keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Vasquez's head. Chuck Vasquez is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Vasquez wants to improve his position but instead Hendrix has moved into half guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hendrix has control of an arm but Vasquez manages to advance to Hendrix's back!
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alvaro Hendrix. Well Vasquez has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
