#TD# Armstrong closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Barkley to the mat! Barkley manages to get full guard. Armstrong throws a big right hand that misses. Barkley is trying to control the position but Armstrong postures up. Armstrong has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Armstrong sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Barkley's guard. Armstrong works his way into side control. Barkley tries to bench press Armstrong off him but Armstrong keeps the position. #SUB# Armstrong tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Armstrong has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Armstrong misses with an attempted head punch from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Armstrong lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Barkley felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Armstrong working away. Barkley might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Armstrong haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Armstrong misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
#T1##SUB# Armstrong looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Armstrong misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Armstrong working away. Armstrong working the ground and pound but Barkley is defending the strikes. #SUB# Armstrong in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Barkley is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Diesel Armstrong! Diesel Armstrong looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Just shocked the World!'.

#R1# Thompson blocks a head kick by Barkley.
Barkley throws out a leg kick but Thompson moves out of range and Barkley only half commits. #TD2# Thompson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Barkley to the mat! Barkley manages to get full guard. #SUB2# Thompson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Thompson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Barkley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Thompson pushing down on Barkley's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Thompson in particular looking to stall. Thompson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thompson stalling. Barkley trying to control here.
#T1# Thompson content to control rather than advance. Barkley is trying to maintain the position but Thompson is very close to passing his half guard. Barkley is trying to get back to full guard. Barkley knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thompson on the ground. Thompson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Barkley with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Barkley tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Thompson has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Barkley wants to hold on but Thompson pushes him away. Thompson controlling the position easily from mount. Barkley reaches up to try and control the position but Thompson seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Barkley rolls and tries to escape and now Thompson has his back!
#T2# Thompson is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Thompson landing with strikes. #SUB2# Thompson sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Barkley taps out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chris Thompson! Chris Thompson decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
