Shaffer takes a shot right to the bread basket. Bettencourt darts in looking for a takedown but Shaffer gets double underhooks and turns Bettencourt into the cage. Bettencourt shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Shaffer sprawls well. Shaffer wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bettencourt gets slowly back to his feet. Dustin Shaffer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ruben Bettencourt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shaffer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bettencourt swats him away and circles back towards the center. Shaffer tries to counter by clinching up but Majcen breaks away and moves out of range. Majcen throws a right and a left that both miss. Shaffer feinted with a counter takedown. Majcen looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Majcen!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Shaffer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Wooooo! Shaffer tries to clinch but fails miserably #TD2# and Ortega counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Shaffer wants to stand back up but Ortega manages to pass into side control.
