Blackwell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB2# Slater working for a triangle but Blackwell defends it easily.
Slater is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slater looking to sweep here. Slater looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Blackwell scores with punches from side control. Cote regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Cote is striking off his back. Slater creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Whitehead sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. #T1# Slater trying to control the action but Whitehead is working from the bottom. Teller closes the distance and clinches up with Slater, looking for a takedown. Teller pushes Slater against the cage but Slater circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Teller pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Slater scores with a jab. Teller acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Teller swinging wildly here.
