He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Melo to score with a decent uppercut. Jab, jab by Melo - just one landing. Melo lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Melo connects with a right hand. Tunney shakes it off. Tunney tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Melo counters with a straight right hand. A nice leg kick lands there from Melo. Melo lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Melo smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Melo lands with a nice body punch. Tunney takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Melo is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Tunney had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Tunney crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Melo - the referee stops the clock and Tunney gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Melo. Tunney manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Melo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Tunney looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Nice jab there from Melo. Melo throws a front kick that sends Tunney stumbling back into the cage. Tunney is breathing heavily. Tunney fails with the takedown. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. A solid body kick from Melo. A head kick from Melo lands but Tunney takes it in his stride.
