He's pushed Jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Valmer with the counter takedown but Jones avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Calvin Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice sprawl there from Valmer as Jones shoots in. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jones with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Valmer has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Valmer seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Valmer is stalling here. Jones is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Valmer seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Jones has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. You can see the frustration on Valmer's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Jones postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! The strikes coming from Jones are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Jones has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Valmer is not content to let Jones control the position. Jones trying to control but Opposite is working from the bottom. Jones throwing strikes but missing. Opposite is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones with a flurry of punches that miss. Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.#REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Opposite definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.#T1##TD2# Jones throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. That was a close round but I would say that Bipolor Opposite will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! #R1##TD# Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Smit napping and manages to drive through into side control! Smit wants to get back to his feet but Jones drags him back down. Jones works to advance to full mount. Smit defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. #SUB# Jones looking for a guillotine from mount but Smit is having none of it. Jones pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smit wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
#SUB# Jones throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Smit has his hands clasped together but Jones breaks the hold and Smit is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Jones!
