Umbuku avoids a punch combination nicely.
Umbuku has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as McVitie is landing a low percentage of strikes.
McVitie keeps the fight on the outside.
An attempted straight right counter from McVitie misses the target.
McVitie lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.#CUT#
It looks like Harley Umbuku has been cut.
Umbuku tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McVitie swivels and escapes.
Nice straight punches there by McVitie. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of McVitie.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Umbuku fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
McVitie pounces like a tiger and cracks Umbuku with a vicious hook! Umbuku is down but not out! McVitie follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!

Umbuku will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Umbuku misses with a takedown attempt - Laston sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Laston is looking to counter punch.
Laston definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Umbuku tries to clinch but Laston moves out of range.
Umbuku closes the distance and clinches up with Laston, looking for a takedown. Umbuku pushes Laston against the cage but Laston circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Laston went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Umbuku slips a jab from Laston.
Laston really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Umbuku throws a hook to the side of Laston's head but Laston sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Laston throwing a counter right hand but Umbuku manages to avoid it.
Umbuku takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Umbuku shoots for a double leg takedown but Laston sprawls well. He's pushed Umbuku's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Jon Laston has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harley Umbuku.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Umbuku misses with a few strikes there.
Umbuku motions for Laston to come forward. Umbuku throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Laston tries to bum rush Umbuku with a series of wild strikes but Umbuku uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nice uppercut lands for Laston. That snapped Umbuku's head back.
Laston throws a hook but Umbuku blocks it.#T1#
Umbuku shoots in looking for a takedown but Laston manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Umbuku's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Laston bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Umbuku's head backwards.
Laston rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Umbuku moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Umbuku misses with a left hand #KD#
and Laston counters with a crisp right hand that drops Umbuku! Laston lets Umbuku back up to his feet, looking for a finish!#ROC#
Umbuku is rocked!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Laston has cracked Umbuku with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Laston lands another huge swinging hook and Umbuku tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Umbuku, before Laston can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jon Laston!
Jon Laston is the new middleweight champion!
After the fight, Jon Laston was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.

Umbuku gets tackled into the cage by Blake. Blake maintains the clinch.
Blake stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.#TD#
Umbuku successfully pulls guard.

Blake has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Umbuku to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Blake is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Umbuku pulls down on the head and he's put Blake to sleep! This one is all over!

Bailey shoots in and gets a takedown into Umbuku's guard.
Bailey throws a strike but Umbuku rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. #REVB#
Umbuku wants to pass the guard but Bailey is keeping the position.#SUB#
Bailey working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Umbuku doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Umbuku manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bailey controls Umbuku momentarily but Umbuku frees himself.
Umbuku wants to control from the top but Bailey keeps moving. #SUB#
Bailey is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Umbuku is aware though and is defending well.
Bailey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Umbuku on the ground.

Bailey is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Umbuku lets go of the hold and Bailey can pop his arm back in it's socket.
