McKenzie's corner calls for a 1-2. McKenzie obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. McKenzie jabbing away but nothing is landing. McKenzie missing with a left hand there. Purcell was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Purcell tries to counter with a takedown but McKenzie is quick to defend against it. Purcell has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McKenzie finds it's way round the side to connect with Purcell's head. Purcell shoots in looking for a takedown but McKenzie manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Purcell's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. McKenzie scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that McKenzie has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McKenzie tries to clinch there but Purcell circles away.

A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
McKenzie lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Coming up we have a light heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Linwood Purcell and Bubba Force. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of St Petersburg, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Linwood Purcell! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Bubba Force! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Sergei Dronov.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Force closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Cockhold misses with a takedown attempt - Purcell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Purcell tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Cockhold manages to circle out of the way. Purcell leaves Cockhold with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Cockhold wants to clinch up but Purcell keeps it at a distance. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Purcell goes for a double leg but Cockhold avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Cockhold continues to drive forward. Cockhold moves in looking to clinch but Purcell pushes him off. Cockhold shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Cockhold showed some decent athleticism there. Cockhold is looking for a kimura but Purcell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cockhold to get the leverage. Purcell looking for submissions off his back. That's two minutes gone in the round. Cockhold tries to pass to full mount but Purcell defends it. Cockhold perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Cockhold wants to pass the guard but Purcell is defending well. Cockhold is trying to control the action in half guard but Purcell is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Cockhold is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Cockhold really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Purcell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Cockhold prevents Purcell from improving his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Purcell is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cockhold pulls his head out easily. Purcell has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Cockhold. Oh but Purcell has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Cockhold goes limp - he's gone! Purcell jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
