#R1# Coppes ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Otumba moves away. Coppes throws an off balance right hand
#TD2# and Otumba counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Coppes! Coppes is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Otumba asserts his dominance and retains side control. Coppes tries to improve position but can't. Otumba lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Coppes is looking to reverse the position. Otumba is looking to take a break and control but Coppes is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Coppes isn't going anywhere. Coppes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Otumba on the ground. Otumba creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Coppes on the wrong end of some ground and pound. You can see the frustration on Coppes's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The ground and pound from Otumba seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Otumba wants to lay and pray for a moment but Coppes keeps working. #T1# Coppes defending against the ground and pound. Otumba looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Coppes is avoiding damage well.

Otumba trying to control the action but Coppes is working from the bottom. Otumba advances nicely into full mount. Otumba lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Otumba fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Otumba has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Otumba tries to get the hooks in deep but Coppes pushed the leg off. Coppes wants to get back to his feet. Coppes is taking damage to the body and head. Otumba trying to control. I really don't envy Coppes right now.

Coppes is trying to get back to his feet but Otumba has full control of the position and if anything, Coppes has just worked his way into a worse spot. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Otumba does a little dance to reset his feet. Otumba feints the counter takedown. Otumba slips under a jab from Coppes. Otumba takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Otumba blocks an uppercut.

#R1# Coppes on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Aki throws a right and a left that Coppes avoids nicely. Aki swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Aki lands with a straight right. Coppes didn't see that one coming. Aki lands a lovely overhand right. Coppes misses with a wild body shot. Coppes misses the shot to the body. A decent looking cross lands there for Aki. Aki misses the jab. Coppes fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Aki manages to avoid it. Coppes misses with an uppercut. Coppes misses with a left hand and Aki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Aki connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Coppes momentarily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!#CL# Coppes moves into the clinch successfully.

Aki is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Coppes screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

#R1# Coppes dips to his left and cracks Otumba with an uppercut! Coppes lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Otumba swats away the attempt to clinch by Coppes. Otumba feints the counter takedown. Otumba gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Coppes. Stefan Coppes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Coppes connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Otumba's hands. Otumba takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Otumba ducks under a wild hook from Coppes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice body punch from Coppes. Otumba avoids the body shot from Coppes.
Otumba is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.#KD# Coppes cracks Otumba with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Coppes has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Otumba to stand back up!#ROC# Otumba is rocked!#CUT# It looks like Stephen Otumba has been cut.#T1# Coppes lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Otumba up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs Coppes from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Otumba's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
