I was talking to Asd's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
A left hand lands to the body for Kovalev.
Kovalev lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Asd or not.
Asd throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Asd using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Kovalev makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Asd tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Asd is trying to push Perfect away but Perfect has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Asd takes an elbow to the forehead. #CUT#
It looks like Punka Asd has been cut.

Perfect keeps control of Asd as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Perfect turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

and Perfect makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Asd seems to have recovered his senses.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Asd crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Perfect - the referee stops the clock and Asd gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Perfect. Asd manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Perfect has Asd pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Asd is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Perfect - that's hurt Asd badly! Oh, another knee lands and Asd is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Asd doesn't seem to be complaining.
