Shinamoto misses with a takedown attempt - Oliveira sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Shinamoto shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Oliveira tries to counter by clinching up but Shinamoto breaks away and moves out of range. Shinamoto avoids the body shot from Oliveira.
Shinamoto shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. A quick step to the side and Oliveira tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Fernando Oliveira has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tatsuo Shinamoto. Shinamoto fails with a takedown attempt. Oliveira scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Shinamoto's coach down at Bonsai Club MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Shinamoto's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Shinamoto tries to score a power double leg takedown but Oliveira sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Shinamoto somewhat. He's got his arms around Oliveira's waist but Oliveira gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shinamoto off to one side. Shinamoto tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. It looked like Oliveira wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.#KD# Oliveira drops Shinamoto with a beautiful combination! Shinamoto stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Oliveira is looking for the KO!#ROC# Shinamoto is rocked!#CUT# It looks like Tatsuo Shinamoto has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Oliveira is stalking Shinamoto. Shinamoto circles to his left. Keeps circling left. Bam! Straight right from Oliveira, and it's lights out! Shinamoto really payed the price for that rookie mistake.

#R1##TD2# Shinamoto tries to sprawl but Johnson drives through with a takedown into half guard. Johnson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Johnson winds up and cracks Shinamoto with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Shinamoto wants to control but Johnson is keeping busy.
Shinamoto gets back to full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Shinamoto not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Shinamoto pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage. Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Shinamoto is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. #R1# Shinamoto misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.#CL# Shinamoto rushes Odds and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch. Nice elbow from Odds. Odds lands an elbow inside. #CUT2# It looks like Tatsuo Shinamoto has been cut. Shinamoto definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Odds lands a nice elbow. Odds comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. A nice glancing elbow lands by Odds. Nice elbow from Odds. #CUT2# Tatsuo Shinamoto's cut is getting worse. Shinamoto takes an elbow to the forehead. This has been an exciting period of action! Odds gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Odds lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. #CUT2# Tatsuo Shinamoto's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Shinamoto tries to pull guard but Odds forces him back to his feet, against the ropes. Shinamoto takes an elbow to the temple. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him. Tatsuo Shinamoto was interviewed post fight and said '(through translator) We had a gameplan, it didn't work. #R1# Shinamoto throws a lazy body kick and Huber counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Shinamoto throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Huber throws a sloppy head kick and Shinamoto moves out of range easily. Huber could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Shinamoto stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shinamoto wants it to stay on the feet. Huber blocks a head kick by Shinamoto.
Huber tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shinamoto paws at him with a jab and circles away. Shinamoto changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Huber bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Huber appears to be looking for a counter takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shinamoto shoots in looking for a takedown but Huber manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shinamoto's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Huber wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Shinamoto is looking to chop away at Huber's legs. Tatsuo Shinamoto decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
