Santos tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. O Palmeiras manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Santos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts O Palmeiras as he jumps to the side. #TD2#
O Palmeiras closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Still in half guard, O Palmeiras seems content to control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
O Palmeiras looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Santos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Santos has hold of O Palmeiras's hands but O Palmeiras slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
O Palmeiras seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Mcgregor feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Mcgregor is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

As Santos backs off Mcgregor throws a huge counter combo but Santos manages to avoid it all.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gorilla Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him.
