Very smooth. #SUB2# Newman swings around for an armbar but Rodriquez sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Newman's guard. Rodriquez is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rodriquez postures up in Newman's guard and throws a big left but Newman blocks it. Newman wants to get back to his feet but Rodriquez is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Newman is looking to stand back up but Rodriquez counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Newman. #SUB# Rodriquez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Newman defends it well. Newman trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

Mcintyre thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!#ROC2# Rodriquez is rocked!#CUT2# It looks like Darrick Rodriquez has been cut. Rodriquez wants to stay close but Mcintyre steps back to make room for something. Rodriquez seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Mcintyre and Rodriquez drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!

#R1# A looping hook to the body misses from Powell. Rodriquez does a little dance to reset his feet. Powell throws a sloppy head kick and Rodriquez moves out of range easily. Rodriquez throws a series of punches but Powell moves out of range. Powell throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Rodriquez appears to be looking for a big counter. Powell avoids the head kick by Rodriquez.
Rodriquez walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Rodriquez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Rodriquez throws a head kick but Powell moves out of range.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to James Powell. Well Powell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. Lovell throws a wild body kick that Rodriquez sees coming a mile off. Rodriquez looks for the body kick but Lovell saw that one coming. Keri Lovell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice cross by Lovell. Rodriquez tries to move into range but Lovell moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lovell throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Rodriquez crashing down! Rodriquez tries to stagger back to his feet but Lovell just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Rodriquez asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.

Rodriquez is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Silva is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Rodriquez parries the strikes from Silva easily there. Silva is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rodriquez to escape.

#CUT2# It looks like Darrick Rodriquez has been cut. Gaia connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Rodriquez tumbling to the canvas! Gaia pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Rodriquez was done - good stoppage!
