Coming up we have a bantamweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Max Benneson and Sumio Kawagichi. The crowd seem to be enjoying Kawagichi's choice of entrance music: Yung Lean ♦ Ginseng Strip 2002 ♦. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the bantamweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Max Benneson! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; Sumio Kawagichi! The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Kawagichi closes the distance and clinches. Benneson drags the fight down to the ground.
Kawagichi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kawagichi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Benneson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Benneson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Benneson pulls Kawagichi in to control the position. Kawagichi drops back looking for a leg! Benneson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Benneson manages to kick Kawagichi off! Kawagichi jumps back into Benneson's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kawagichi is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Benneson managing to control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kawagichi trying to control the position from guard on top but Benneson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Benneson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Benneson trying to keep a closed guard but Kawagichi is proving a slippery customer.
Kawagichi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kawagichi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Benneson throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Benneson looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Benneson continues to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Benneson is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Kawagichi has his hands clasped together but Benneson extends and breaks Kawagichi's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Benneson.
