#R1##TD2# Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into Cruz's guard. Cruz wants to sweep but no luck. Cruz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard. #REVR# Cruz looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. #REVB# Jones trying to control but Cruz is working from the bottom. Cruz has his hands on Jones's head, controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cruz is trying to control the position but Jones postures up. Cruz looking to sweep here. No luck so far. #T1# Jones slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Jones wants to pass the guard but Cruz is keeping the position. Jones is still trying to improve position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cruz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Cruz really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Jones throws a strike but Cruz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. #REVR# Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. #T2# A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Cruz throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Cruz preventing the sweep. #ES2# Jones has his feet on Cruz's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Jones looks to land a combination. Cruz sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.#TD2# Jones scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Cruz wants to control but Jones postures up. Cruz tries to bench press Jones off him but Jones keeps the position. Jones is looking to take a break and control but Cruz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. #T3# Jones laying and praying for a moment but Cruz takes advantage and regains half guard. Jones thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cruz's head. Cruz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. #T4# The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Cruz trying to control here.
Jones trying to control from half guard but Cruz is working away. #REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.#TD2# Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jones scoring with some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Allan Jones dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! #R2# Nice shot lands for Cruz.#TD2# Jones changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cruz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.#ES# Cruz sneaks out the side door and pushes Jones away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Cruz is looking to clinch. Jones with the counter takedown but Cruz avoids it easily. Cruz tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.
Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cruz walks forward, straight into a front kick from Jones. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.#CL2# Jones rushes Cruz and presses him up against the cage. Cruz trying to land knees to the body.

Cruz working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.#T1##TD2# Jones has clasped his hands together around Cruz's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Cruz is trying to control Jones's posture but Jones avoids it. Jones taking a breather here. Jones working away.#T2##SUB2# Jones goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cruz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jones but great work by Cruz. You can see the frustration on Jones's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Check out the look on Cruz's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Allan Jones has got the better of the ground game so far. Jones is not content to let Cruz control the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth. Jones tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Cruz presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Jones tries to lock up and control but Cruz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.#T3# Cruz looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Jones wants to control but Cruz is having none of it. Jones gets back to half guard. Cruz scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cruz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ground and pound from Cruz. Jones has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cruz is working away from the top position though. Cruz seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cruz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.#T4# Cruz throwing shots but Jones is blocking nicely. Jones wants to control but Cruz is keeping busy.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Cruz has control of the leg. #SUB# Cruz has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Jones defend it? Cruz steps over the head and cranks it - Jones is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Cruz!
