#R1##TD# Mendez shoots in and bounces Franco off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Franco can do anything to dispel that myth. Franco looking to hit a scissor sweep but Mendez is one step ahead there. Mendez might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Franco utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Mendez lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Mendez with a nice head shot there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Franco has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Mendez has passed into side control.
Franco is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.#T1# Franco wants to control the action here but instead Mendez manages to pass to full mount! Franco tries for a takedown but Mendez circles away easily letting Mendez counter with a right hand. Anton Mendez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maximus Franco. Franco shoots and misses and Mendez counters with a nice uppercut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Franco fails with the takedown enabling Mendez to counter with a crisp jab. Franco takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. The fighters circle momentarily. Mendez darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.#T1# Franco on the wrong end of a nice jab. Mendez scores with the left hand. Franco scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Mendez manages to mount him!
Anton Mendez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Mendez is in the full mount, landing strikes. The referee warns Franco that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Mendez landing punches. Maximus Franco has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!#T2# Mendez cracks Franco with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

#TD2# Franco closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Franco scores with punches from side control. Nolan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Franco's best efforts. Nolan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Nolan. Nolan is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. #REVR# Nolan is figuring out what he wants to do next. Franco keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
