#R1# Face fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Face misses with a takedown attempt - Carter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Carter lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Carter swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
#CL# and Face counters by moving into the clinch. Face looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Carter trying to stall but Face improves his position.
Carter misses with a short punch on the inside. Face tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Carter smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Happy Face. That's going to take a lot out of him. Face fails with an attempt to clinch.
Face is looking to clinch. Face shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Carter counters with a straight right hand. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Face cracks Carter with an open hand slap.#CUT# It looks like Dominic Carter has been cut. Happy Face seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Face moves in looking to clinch but Carter pushes him off. Carter keeps the fight on the outside. As Face backs off Carter throws a huge counter combo but Face manages to avoid it all. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Carter has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.#T1# A clash of legs there as Face blocks the low kick. Carter staying out of range there. Carter keeps the fight on the outside. Carter changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Face on the wrong end of a nice hook.#TD2# Carter throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Face was covering up waiting for the punch and Carter finishes the takedown easily into guard. Face might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Carter trying to control the position from guard on top but Face is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carter is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Face knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Carter on the ground. Face is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.#SUB2# Carter drops back looking for a leg! Face is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Face manages to kick Carter off! Carter jumps back into Face's guard. Carter keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Face's head.#T2# Carter trying to control but Face is working from the bottom. Carter is in close to Face's body, working some short punches and elbows. Carter passes easily into side control. Nice work. Carter working the head with strikes. Face is looking for a sweep. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Face is working hard here to advance position.#SUB2# Carter in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Face is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dominic Carter! Dominic Carter is the new middleweight champion! Dominic Carter spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant. Happy Face was interviewed post fight and said 'DOINNNNNNNNG'.

#R1##CL2# Face takes the fight into the clinch. Winters looking for a takedown. #TD2# Face wants the takedown. Winters is fighting it off but Face persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Winters's guard against the cage. Face postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.#CUT2# It looks like Francisco Winters has been cut. Face working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. #ROC2# Winters is rocked! Face gets to his feet and stands over Winters, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Winters felt that one! Face unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Winters from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Happy Face!
