#R1##TD# The Dog shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Smith pushes The Dog off looking to stand but The Dog dives back in and keeps control.
The Dog trying to pass the guard but Smith defending well. The Dog will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Smith pushes The Dog off looking to stand but The Dog dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Smith is not content to let The Dog control the position. Smith regains full guard. Nicely done. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Smith is looking to take a break and control but The Dog is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
