#CL# Wells darts in and clinches Thomas up against the cage.#BC2# Thomas escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
#CL# Wells has closed the distance and engaged Thomas in a clinch.
The referee calls for Wells to work.
Wells is trying to drag Thomas to the mat but Thomas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Wells is pushing Thomas up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Wells stalling.
Wells gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Thomas lands a body shot in the clinch.
#BC2# Thomas's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Wells will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.#CL2# Thomas forces Wells back against the cage and clinches. Wells looking for a takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Wells. That's going to take a lot out of him.#T1##BC2# Thomas breaks from the clinch.
#TD# Wells closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Thomas's guard.#ES2# Thomas pushes Wells off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Ricky Wells seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A solid body kick from Thomas. Wells is breathing heavily.#TD# Wells closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wells lands in his opponent's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Thomas wants to sweep but no luck. Thomas is trying to control the position from the bottom.
#SUB2# Wells got a little sloppy there for a moment and Thomas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wells has managed to get both his arms back between Thomas's legs - danger averted.#SUB2# Wells content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Thomas has locked up a guillotine! Thomas's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Wells is holding on here and Thomas must be using up a lot of energy. Wells has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Thomas gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
