Khalafa throws an overhand right that drops Kopylov like a sack of potatoes! Khalafa dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

It looks like Andrei Kopylov has been cut.
Kopylov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Newton cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Newton looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Newton lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Kopylov falls backwards - clearly groggy! Newton dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Dumont felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.#SUB#

Newton lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though. #CUT2#
It looks like Andrei Kopylov has been cut.

and Newton counters with a straight right hand.
Newton throws a body punch but Kopylov moves out of range.
Kopylov has been working on his balance at Harambe Remembrance Hall, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Newton.
Newton lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Newton.

Kopylov throws a strike aimed at the side of Gordon's head but Gordon avoids it well.

Kopylov has hold of Gordon's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Gordon seems comfortable defending it but Kopylov has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Gordon is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Gordon is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Kopylov couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Xerxes feints a jab promting Kopylov to slip. Xerxes then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kopylov slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Kopylov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Xerxes but Xerxes pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Xerxes lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Xerxes seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Kopylov is holding his hands too far apart here. Xerxes throws a hard, straight punch right down the pipe and BOOM! Kopylov is out! That punch landed square on the jaw - what a shot!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rostam Xerxes!
Rostam Xerxes really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Island's Forbidden Fruits logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Kopylov.
Kopylov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nevalainen sprawls well. Nevalainen wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kopylov gets slowly back to his feet.
Nevalainen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Nevalainen wants it to stay on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrei Kopylov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kopylov swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A head kick misses from Nevalainen.

Island fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kopylov looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kopylov is breathing heavily.
Island is pawing at Kopylov, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Kopylov's nose. Kopylov is badly hurt! Island pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Kopylov tries desperately to hold on but Island is relentless in his assault! As Kopylov receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Island away and this one is in the books!
