Erl working some nice short punches in the clinch. Firpo wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Erl creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. I was talking to Firpo's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Erl lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. #BC# Firpo breaks from the clinch.
Erl takes a body punch but keeps moving. #TD2# Erl decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Erl is trying to control the action in half guard but Firpo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. #SUB2# Erl looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Firpo parries the strikes from Erl easily there. Erl wants to counter the offense by Firpo and move into the clinch position. Firpo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Erl moves out of range and avoids them all easily.#TD2# Erl feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Mir manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. No luck for Erl with that takedown attempt. Erl tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Mir tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.#CL2# Erl clinches up with Mir and pushes him back against the cage. Mir tries to throw a body punch but Erl avoids it by throwing Mir back against the cage. Mir is trying to push Erl away but Erl has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. That was a close round but I would say that Edvard Grieg will probably get the nod. That's time! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.#SUB2# Gracie drops back looking for a leg!
