Carpenter misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Carpenter has his takedown stuffed letting Jones counter with a right hand. #CUT2# It looks like Bryce Carpenter has been cut. Jones wants to clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Jones lands with a nice body punch. Carpenter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bryce Carpenter. #R1##TD# Carpenter drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cavanaugh parries the strikes from Carpenter easily there. Carpenter is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Cavanaugh to escape.
Cavanaugh seems a little lost for a moment, as Carpenter dominates the positioning. Cavanaugh is trying to get back to half guard. Cavanaugh struggling a bit here. Cavanaugh is trying to strike from the bottom but Carpenter has passed into full mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. #R1# Smurf with a lazy takedown attempt and Carpenter makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Smurf tries for a takedown but Carpenter sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Horrible takedown attempt by Smurf or perhaps it was just good defense by Carpenter, which made it look bad. Bryce Carpenter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Papa Smurf. Nice takedown defense from Carpenter. No joy for Smurf on that attempt. Carpenter shoots for a takedown but Smurf saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Smurf tries to clinch but Carpenter is having none of it. Smurf fails to land the takedown.#CL2# Smurf fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Carpenter, pushing him back against the cage. Smurf looks winded! #R1# Hammer moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.#CUT2# It looks like Bryce Carpenter has been cut. Carpenter shoots for a takedown but Hammer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Carpenter could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Carpenter dodges the punch combination from Hammer.
Hammer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Carpenter. That did some damage! Carpenter shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hammer as he avoids it easily. Hammer connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Carpenter to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Hammer!
